6 Things Cats Refuse to Admit To

Cat World Domination Day is June 24th! Our feline overlords are pretty mysterious. We may never know why Fluffy is obsessed with boxes, why she sometimes gets the zoomies for no reason, or why she will occasionally stare at a spot on the wall for hours. As it turns out, these little furballs have quite a few secrets. A local Washington DC vet lists some things Fluffy just won’t cop to in this article.

Loneliness

Kitties can be a bit aloof at times. Fluffy may snub you when you want to pet her, ignore you when you call her, or jump away if you pick her up. However, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love you. Cats get very lonely and depressed when their humans are gone too long.

Deliberate Hairball Placement

Hairballs are no fun for either you or your feline buddy. If your cat frequently gets hairballs, consult your vet. That said, one can’t help but wonder if Fluffy deliberately leaves hairballs in the spots where they’re going to annoy you the most.

Have you ever sworn that your kitty was in one room, just to find her in another spot? While scientists haven’t exactly proven this one yet, some of us suspect that the regular laws of physics don’t apply to cats.

Does your furball spend a lot of time lounging around in her favorite sunbeam? The simple explanation here is that kitties like to find warm sleeping spots. That said, there’s also a possibility that Fluffy’s backup power runs on solar, and she’s just recharging her catteries.

One of Fluffy’s cutest features is her adorable meow. As it turns out, our feline pals may have started talking just to boss us around. It’s no coincidence that Fluffy’s plaintive mews sound quite a bit like the cries of a baby. This is very effective at getting us to provide kitties with food, shelter, water, and, of course, lap space.

Did you know that the frequencies cats purr at have been shown to promote tissue healing and bone growth? Fluffy’s happy rumble can also soothe people who are coping with grief, fear, or anxiety, and is great for insomnia. Kitties may be a bit magical … but they’ll never admit it.
