Cute Ways to Pamper Fluffy on National Cat Day

October 15, 2018

National Cat Day is coming up October 29th! Of course, if it were up to Fluffy, every day would be National Cat Day. Our feline friends certainly do deserve to be loved and pampered every day. However, this is a great time to spoil your kitty a bit, and score some extra cuddles and purrs. Read on as a local Washington DC veterinarian lists some easy ways to please your feline overlord.

Beds

Fluffy may very well spend the majority of her special day sleeping. Get your kitty a comfy new bed to curl up in. This doesn’t have to be fancy: your pet will likely be thrilled with a soft blanket folded up and put into a box or wicker basket.

Boxes

Speaking of boxes, they are definitely at or near the top of the list of Fluffy’s favorite things. Give your kitty a new box to hang out in!

Playtime

Playing is of course lots of fun for cats, but it’s also very good for them. A new toy is definitely an appropriate gift! Spend a few minutes holding a laser pointer or wand toy for your furball to pounce on. This will be fun for you both!

Treats

A yummy treat will really get your kitty’s little motor going. Fluffy can have some plain, canned tuna in water; shredded deli meat; or cooked, plain meat, fish, or chicken, without the skin, bones, or fat. Store-bought treats are also fine.

Catnip

You may find that giving Fluffy catnip is just as much fun for you as it is for her. Kitties are pretty cute when they’re feeling the effects of their favorite plant!

Cat Grass

Another plant that is very popular with our feline friends is cat grass, or wheat grass, as it is also known. This is a healthy treat for Fluffy. You can grow your own, or buy it in stores.

Purrniture

Your feline pal will also appreciate having some things she doesn’t have to share. A cat tower is a great gift! You can also give your furry buddy a pet tent, tipi, or even a scratching post. If you don’t have a lot of wiggle room in your budget, look online for DIY options.
